Ask your employer to fund your project

Updated on November 6, 2026

Work for a business, or volunteer alongside a day job? Your employer could fund community projects like yours through ActionFunder. Use our template email to start the conversation.

Businesses use ActionFunder to run community funds. They fund vetted local projects, keep their staff involved, and get impact reports that show what their money achieved.

What to do

  1. Personalise the template email below with your details and a link to your project.
  2. Find the right person or team to send it to.
  3. Send it with the two ActionFunder documents attached (the short doc and the full presentation). You can copy in hello@actionfunder.org if you like.

You can also find the template and documents in our shared folder.

Who to send it to

A few teams in a business might own community funding:

  • ESG, CSR or sustainability team, if your company has commitments in this area
  • Marketing team, if showing local impact fits the brand
  • Sales team, since community funding can win new business
  • Your CEO, if the decision sits with leadership

Pick the one that fits your company best, or email them all.

Subject: Could [company name] fund community projects through ActionFunder?

Dear [recipient name],

I volunteer with [name of your organisation], a non-profit that [what your organisation does and the difference it makes].

We raise money for our work through ActionFunder, a platform where businesses fund local community projects. You can see our current project here: [project link].

Funding for community groups like ours is scarce, yet the work we do matters to the people we work with every day. I think there’s a real opportunity for [company name] to fund community projects in the neighbourhoods where our colleagues and customers live and work.

ActionFunder makes it simple for businesses to run a community fund. Companies can involve their staff, choose the projects they fund and track the impact of every grant. I’d love [company name] to consider it.

I’ve attached a short introduction to ActionFunder and a fuller presentation with more background. You can also visit their website, or book a demo at https://www.actionfunder.org/request-demo/.

Thank you so much for considering this. It would mean a great deal to me and to [name of your organisation].

Warm wishes,

[Your name]

Thank you

People who speak up inside their own company are often how a business starts funding its community. Thanks for being one of them. If you’d like to talk it through before you send the email, get in touch.
