Changing your budget or plans after funding

Updated on November 6, 2026

Your grant is for the project, budget and timeframe you set out when you applied. If you want to change any of them, contact the ActionFunder team as soon as possible, ideally before you make the change. Your funder has the final decision.

What counts as a change

Talk to us before you:

  • move money between items in your budget breakdown
  • spend the grant on something that isn’t in your budget
  • change what you’ll deliver, for example fewer sessions or a different site
  • change who your project is for, or roughly how many people it’ll reach
  • change your delivery timeframe

Small, everyday adjustments are part of running any project. If you’re not sure whether something counts, ask us. It’s quicker than putting it right later.

You can’t edit a funded project in the app yourself. Editing closes once you’ve been offered funding, and the Edit button no longer appears on the project’s management page. That’s why changes go through our team.

How to ask for a change

  1. Email hello@actionfunder.org.
  2. Tell us your project name and fund.
  3. Explain what you’d like to change, why, and what difference it makes to your budget, timeframe or impact.

We’ll talk it through with you and take it to your funder. We’ll let you know their decision.

Why it matters

Delivering your project to plan and budget is one of your three grant requirements. Agreeing changes up front keeps you within your agreement and keeps your funder’s trust. Your impact survey also asks how your results compared with your original goal, so it’s worth having changes on record. Your grant requirements at a glance
