When a project reaches their delivery deadline, the funded organisation is prompted to complete an impact survey. This is how you receive structured evidence of what your funding achieved.
You don’t need to do anything to trigger this – it happens automatically once a project is marked complete.
What the survey covers
The survey is designed to capture both the hard numbers and the human story behind each project. Here’s what funded organisations are asked to report on:
Project outcomes
- Whether they achieved their project goal (exactly as planned, exceeded it, or fell short — with an explanation if not)
- An updated estimate of how many people were directly benefitted
- The types of social and environmental beneficiaries reached (from ActionFunder’s standard lists)
- The tangible outputs created (e.g. “18 trees planted”, “24 training sessions delivered”)
- A description of the impact those outputs made
Community and fund perception
Funded organisations rate their level of agreement (1–5) with statements about the fund, including:
- Whether your support positively impacted their organisation and wider community
- Whether it increased beneficiary engagement
- Whether it raised awareness of their project locally
- Whether it increased their awareness of what you are doing in the community
Volunteering
- How many volunteers supported the project
- Whether they received any volunteer support from you as a funder, and if so, how many volunteers and roughly how many hours
Qualitative feedback
- A quote from the project owner or a beneficiary
- What was good about being involved with your fund
- What could be improved
- A star rating (1–5) of you as a funder
ActionFunder platform feedback
Funded organisations also rate their experience of the ActionFunder platform itself across four areas: applying, receiving funds, providing progress updates, and completing the impact survey. They’re also asked how likely they are to recommend ActionFunder (0–10) and how they found out about your fund.
Viewing impact survey results
Once a funded organisation submits their survey, the data becomes available in your your impact dashboard. You can see which projects have completed their surveys and which are still outstanding via your fund management dashboard.
