Reviewing projects

Updated on July 24, 2025

Once your fund has closed to applications, it’s time to begin the review stage — where you evaluate the projects that have applied and decide which ones to fund. Whether you’re reviewing projects independently, with a team, or as part of a judging panel, this article outlines everything you need to know to carry out a fair and effective review.

1. Where to find applications

All submitted projects will be visible in your ActionFunder dashboard once your fund has closed. You’ll be able to:

  • View each application in full
  • Shortlist or reject projects as needed
  • See basic project and organisation data at a glance

If you need help navigating your dashboard, your Customer Success Manager can guide you through it.

2. Shortlisting projects

You can shortlist strong projects directly in the platform. This is useful if you’re reviewing a large number of applications and want to narrow them down before a final selection or panel review.

Your shortlist is only visible to you, and it won’t notify the applicants — so you can refine your choices without pressure.

3. Finalising Your Decisions

Once all reviews, panels, or voting sessions are complete:

  • Select the projects you want to fund in the platform by clicking ‘offer funding’
  • Reject any unsuccessful applications by clicking ‘reject’
  • We’ll notify successful and unsuccessful applicants
  • The ActionFunder team will then begin the due diligence and payments process
