Why we ask for key people information

Updated on July 24, 2025

As part of ActionFunder’s updated due diligence process, we work with Stripe to securely verify organisations and process grant payments. To comply with Stripe’s requirements, we need you to provide details of individuals who hold key roles within your organisation.

The four roles you’ll need to provide

You’ll be asked to enter the name of someone for each of the following roles:

  • Representative – This is the main person who will act on your organisation’s behalf. You can only list one Representative.
  • Owner – If your organisation has an ownership structure (e.g. a social enterprise), this would be someone who owns all or part of it. If you’re a charity or another type of non-profit (e.g. company limited by guarantee), you can list your CEO, Founder, or another appropriate lead.
  • Director – This is someone listed as a director with Companies House or the Charity Commission, or a member of your governing body (like a trustee) who helps steer your organisation strategically.
  • Executive – This is someone responsible for the day-to-day running of your group, such as a CEO, Managing Director, or senior team member involved in delivery.

Flexible for community groups

We understand that many grassroots organisations won’t use these exact titles. That’s absolutely fine — you’re welcome to list the same person for more than one (or even all) of the roles if appropriate.

If you’re unsure who to list, just include the person who leads your organisation or is authorised to act on its behalf (e.g. signing documents or managing finances).

A one-time process

We know this may feel like an extra step, but it’s a one-time requirement. Once verified, it will make all future grant payments quicker and smoother.
