Updates are short posts on your public project page that show your funder how delivery is going. Click Manage on your funded project, then Post an update. You can add text with either photos or a video, and your funder is notified as soon as you post.
Every funded project posts at least two updates. The first one is the place to thank your funder. Your grant requirements at a glance
How to post an update
- Go to your dashboard and click Manage on your funded project. (You can also click Post an update on the project from your dashboard.)
- Click Post an update.
- Write your update in the text box. Keep it short: up to 1,200 characters, including spaces.
- Add photos or a video. Each update can have one or the other, not both:
- Click Add photos to add up to five images, each up to 5MB, as JPEG or PNG files.
- Or click Add a video to upload one video, up to five minutes long. Most formats work, such as MP4 or MOV. Drag and drop the file, or click to select it.
- Click Post update.
Once you’ve added photos, the video option disappears until you remove them, and the other way round.
Videos upload straight from your device. You don’t add them as YouTube links any more.
Filming or photographing people? Ask their permission first, especially for children or anyone in a vulnerable situation.
What happens next
- Your update appears on your public project page.
- Your funder gets a notification and can Like your update.
- Your Your actions panel and dashboard count the update, for example Post updates 1/2.
Share it on social media
Click Share on your update to post it to your social media channels. Tag your funder and @ActionFunder so we can share it too.
Thanking your funder
Your first update is the best way to thank your funder. Post it when your funding arrives: say what the grant means for your organisation, when you’ll start, and what happens first. Funders read these, and a warm, specific thank you goes a long way.
Deleting an update
Click Delete update on the update, then Yes, delete update. This removes it from your public project page and can’t be undone. If you delete one of your first two updates, post another so you still meet the requirement.
