As you browse matched or public projects on ActionFunder, you may occasionally come across projects that appear to be outdated. Here’s why that happens and how we manage project timelines on the platform.
Why outdated projects appear
There are a couple of reasons why a project might look out of date:
- The project hasn’t received funding yet: Some non-profits may have written the project with a specific fund in mind – if they didn’t receive funding from that fund then their project will remain on the platform in the hopes of finding a funder, even if the original start date has passed.
- The organisation hasn’t updated the timeline: Smaller charities and community groups are often stretched for time. They may not have had the capacity to revise their project details, even if the work is still planned or ongoing.
What ActionFunder does to manage this
We regularly review project listings and encourage non-profits to:
- Update their timelines and details
- Archive projects that are no longer active
- Submit fresh applications where needed
Our Community Team also flags and follows up on projects that appear inactive for an extended period.
What you can do
If you spot a project that seems outdated or unclear:
- Reach out to the non-profit via their contact detail on their profile page to ask for clarification
- Contact your Customer Success Manager or email us at customersuccess@actionfunder.org — we’re happy to look into it for you
While we work hard to keep project listings fresh and relevant, some may require a quick check-in to confirm their status. We’re always here to help ensure you’re funding projects that are active, aligned, and ready to make an impact.
