What if I don’t want to fund a project that has matched?

Updated on July 29, 2025

Not every matched project will be the right fit for your fund — and that’s okay.

How to reject a matched project

  1. Go to your Fund Management page
  2. Go to ‘Matches’
  3. Find the project you don’t wish to fund
  4. Click ‘Reject’

That’s it — the non-profit will receive an automated email letting them know their application was unsuccessful.

What happens next?

The rejected project will:

  • Remain on the ActionFunder platform
  • Still be visible and available to other suitable funders for potential support
  • Continue to be part of the non-profit’s profile unless they choose to remove it

Rejecting projects you don’t plan to fund helps keep your fund dashboard clear and ensures non-profits receive timely updates on their application status.

If you’re unsure about a project or need help deciding, feel free to reach out to your Customer Success Manager for support.
