Funding through ActionFunder is designed to be simple, transparent, and impactful — for both funders and non-profits. While the platform handles much of the heavy lifting, there are a few key responsibilities you’ll have as a funder to ensure a smooth and successful process.
1. Set up your fund with clear criteria
Start by working with your Customer Success Manager to define your fund:
- Funding amount and total budget
- Eligible locations
- Types of organisations
- Types of beneficiaries
- Themes or focus areas you want to support
- Timeframes for decision-making and delivery
Clear criteria help ensure you receive relevant and high-quality project matches.
2. Review and respond to matched projects
Once your fund is live, you’ll start receiving project matches. You’re responsible for:
- Reviewing project applications
- Deciding which to fund
- Rejecting projects you don’t plan to support (non-profits are notified automatically)
- Offering funding to selected projects via the platform
Timely responses help non-profits plan and deliver their work effectively.
3. Engage with funded projects
While optional, we encourage you to:
- Read and interact with project updates via your dashboard
- Use the in-platform messaging tool to connect with grantees
- Explore volunteering or site visit opportunities
- Share project updates and stories internally or on social media
This helps build strong relationships and bring your impact to life.
4. Review your impact
Once projects are complete, non-profits submit final impact surveys. You can:
- View results and summaries from your dashboard
- Download raw data
- Access automated impact reports to share with your team or stakeholders
