Reviewing and managing matched projects

Updated on July 29, 2025

Once your fund is live on ActionFunder, you’ll begin to see matched projects appear in your dashboard. These are community projects that align with the fund criteria you’ve set. Reviewing and managing these projects effectively is key to ensuring your funding goes where it can have the greatest impact.

Where to find your matched projects

You can view matched projects by logging into your ActionFunder account and selecting your fund. Projects that align with your fund’s criteria will appear automatically under the ‘Matched Projects’ section. You’ll also receive notifications when new projects match your fund.

What to look for when reviewing projects

Each project listing includes key details to help you assess suitability:

  • Project summary and objectives
  • Location and delivery timeframe
  • Focus areas and beneficiary groups
  • Funding requested including a budget breakdown
  • Organisation profile

Use this information to evaluate how well the project meets your fund goals.

Messaging organisations

If you’d like more information about a project before making a decision, get in contact with the non profit via the contact details on their profile. This is a great way to ask follow-up questions or clarify anything before shortlisting or rejecting.

Managing your matched projects

You have full control over how you manage your matches:

  • Shortlist – add promising projects to your shortlist for further consideration or internal review.
  • Reject – if a project doesn’t meet your criteria or feels out of date, you can reject it. The organisation will be notified, but you don’t need to provide a reason – though constructive feedback is always appreciated.

Tips for effective project management

  • Review regularly – Check your fund dashboard frequently to stay on top of new matches.
  • Use your insight – Your local knowledge and strategic goals are essential when assessing fit.
  • Communicate clearly – If a project seems promising but needs tweaks, reach out to the non-profit.
  • Act early –  Don’t wait until the fund deadline. Managing your matches throughout helps avoid last minute decisions.

What happens after you review?

Once you’ve shortlisted your preferred projects, you can move forward with the decision-making and funding process. You’ll find tools for voting, scoring, and awarding funds directly from your dashboard.
