The fund criteria determines what kind of non-profits and projects can apply for funding. Our platform automatically matches projects with relevant funds based on location, focus area and funding amount required. If a project matches a fund’s criteria, it’ll be submitted.
As you build the fund you’ll see how many projects currently match your criteria, and the expected number of beneficiaries. If there’s a broader focus and location, more projects will be submitted. These numbers are just the start, once your fund is open relevant non-profits will be notified and encouraged to apply.
The steps to fill out on the Fund Criteria page are:
- Catchment Area – Set a location for your fund, you can choose from a mile-based radius or draw your own bespoke area.
- Focus Area – These align with the Sustainable Development Goals. Projects only need to match with one focus area, but could match with multiple.
- Non-profits Types – Which types of organisation are allowed to apply. We suggest ticking all three to see a broad range of organisations.
- Project Application Format – Non-profits can either apply with a written or video pitch, we recommend accepting both types.
- Fund Amount – set the total fund amount and maximum grant size. We recommend setting the maximum grant size between £500-£5,000, depending on the size of your fund and how many projects you’d like to support.
The fund details page allows you to give more detailed instructions about the type of projects you’d like to fund. This will help guide non-profits to apply with the best chance of being successful. Give your fund a name and outline the aims in the description. The description should explain why you’re launching the fund and what kind of non-profit’s you’re aiming to support.
Choose the application period, which sets how long the fund will be open to applications. At least 4 weeks are usually needed for fund promotion and to give non-profits enough time to apply. Before launching your fund, we recommend finding a date to meet with stakeholders and review the projects that have applied, ideally within a few weeks of the fund closing.
